A glimpse of the Victorian dining table, when even the everyday condiments could be presented with considerable style.
This three piece cruet brings together silver & cut glass within a silver stand, raised on ball feet & finished with twisted wire borders & a loop handle. The set comprises a salt with spoon & blue glass liner, a pepper & a mustard pot & spoon, each neatly housed within the stand.
The individual hallmarks also tell part of its story. The stand is hallmarked London 1869, the salt London 1873, with both the pepper & mustard hallmarked Birmingham 1869.
A decorative piece of Victorian tableware that combines practical purpose with the craftsmanship of its period.
